Dental Cleaning & Preventative Dentistry

While brushing and flossing are, of course, essential components to good oral health, it doesn’t stop there. Regular visits to our Collingwood dentist office help us ensure that you are not only getting semi-annual teeth cleanings, but we can also monitor your oral health, see how your brushing and flossing care is going, and give you guidance on your dental health habits and progress.
As part of our comprehensive dental care services, DDS Collingwood encourages patients to see us twice a year for teeth cleanings and check-ups. While you’re here we’ll discuss your oral health as it relates to your overall physical health – it’s all connected! We are committed to being a long-term partner in your health, wellness and well-being. Whether you’re due for a teeth cleaning or want to improve your oral health, contact us today to book an appointment at our Collingwood dental clinic.

Teeth Cleaning In Collingwood

Dental Cleaning & Preventative Dentistry

You are largely responsible for your preventive dental care. Early dental habits development can help prevent cavities, gum disease, and gingivitis.
Here are some of the things you can do you ensure good oral health:

  •  Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste to brush your teeth at least twice a day, typically in the morning and at night.

  • The toothbrush and toothpaste that are best for you can be suggested by our dentists. They can provide you with advice on how to brush your teeth effectively.

  • To remove food that has become lodged between teeth before it turns to plaque, floss daily. After flossing, use mouthwash to remove any remaining food particles.

  • Eat less acidic meals to protect your teeth’s enamel.

  • Use caution when eating hard foods like some candies, and foods with bones, seeds, or pits that could damage or chip teeth.

  • Smoking and use of tobacco products can lead to cancer and other dental problems. Use a mouth guard when participating in certain sports.

Ask your dentist for a nighttime mouth guard if you grind your teeth at night to help prevent gum recession.
